A suspended Hobart firefighter will face the Supreme Court of Tasmania early next year on child abuse material charges after he pleaded not guilty in a Hobart court.
Adam Joseph Lincoln, 42, appeared for the second time in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Tuesday before Magistrate Chris Webster.
Mr Lincoln is charged with one count of possessing child abuse material accessed using a carriage service and one count of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
Court documents alleged that the Use of a carriage service occurred in Hobart between February 16 and April 25 this year, while the possession offence allegedly occurred on April 26 this year.
Due to the potential penalties associated with the charges, the matter will be heard in Hobart’s Supreme Court of Tasmania.
In a statement released in April, Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Jeremy Smith said Mr Lincoln was immediately suspended from duty pending the outcome of the court process.
“This is distressing news, and wellbeing services are being made available to TFS staff and volunteers as required,” Mr Smith said.
Mr Lincoln was bailed to appear before the Supreme Court on February 4.
