Hobart social enterprise Hamlet Cafe resumes training

With coronavirus restrictions easing, the CEO of a Hobart social enterprise says she’s thrilled its training program for disadvantaged Tasmanians can resume.

WHEN coronavirus shut down Hamlet Cafe for dine-in patrons, it also halted the social enterprise’s training programs for disadvantaged Tasmanians.

But now restrictions are easing, Hamlet CEO Emily Briffa said she’s thrilled training could resume.

The popular cafe, in Molle St at the start of the Rivulet Track, is a registered charity that provides work experience and training opportunities for migrants, people with disabilities and the long-term unemployed.

Ms Briffa, who ran training online in recent months, said it was wonderful to be re-engaging participants in person.

“Whilst things may not return to how they were for a long time, we are very excited to be able to get the program back up and running and are grateful to our community for their continued support,’’ she said.
