A talented local woman with a passion for beauty has been named Tassie’s best makeup artist as voted by Mercury readers.
From dewy skin to spectacular statement looks, Claire Hunt of Hobart has been painting faces for over a decade.
“I fell into makeup about 12 years ago now, I got a casual job at Myer and intended to work in clothing but I got rostered on the Clinique counter on my second day,” Hunt said.
“I ended up being hired by Mac and worked there for three years before I worked my way up to assistant manager and eventually decided I would rather freelance.”
Now the professional makeup artist has worked for iconic Tassie and Australian brands including Blundstone, Commonwealth Bank, Country Road and Francesca Jewellery.
Hunt said although she loves doing work for high end campaigns, local businesses hold a special place in her heart.
“It’s great to get the national clients but also really nice to work with emerging Tassie brands when they are starting to build their way up.”
Upon hearing the news she had been titled Tasmania’s best, Hunt said she was excited to see what was next in store for the state’s flourishing industry.
“When I started doing makeup people thought it was just a hobby - to be able to show that you can work really hard and get recognised, it‘s so amazing.”
“It means a lot to me that I’m able to help women and men feel great about themselves - its really special.”
