Hiddings accuser says her earlier claims were ‘not taken seriously’

The woman who says she was abused by Rene Hidding — claims which he strongly denies — says she is “tired of being abandoned” and is ready to make a statement to police.

THE woman who has made abuse allegations against Liberal MP Rene Hidding — which he strongly denies — says she will make a statement to police.

She said she is expecting officers to visit her in Queensland on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“I want to see this to the end,” she said. “I’m tired of being abandoned. I’m tired of being labelled a liar. I’m going to see this to the end.

“The truth is the only thing I have to go on. It’s that simple.”

HIDDING RESIGNATION A NEW HEADACHE FOR HODGMAN

She told the Mercury she had tried to report the alleged abuse to police in Launceston in 2014, and more recently to Premier Will Hodgman’s office, but said she had not been taken seriously.

“This is the first time I have been heard — through the media. If this is the avenue I have to take, then so be it.”

Mr Hodgman has denied being aware of the woman’s claims, but says an anonymous caller did contact his office and said she had already made a formal complaint to police.
