Hail sweeps through Northern Tasmanian towns
Last night’s smattering of hail in the Burnie was just the start. Reports of other towns being hit with wild weather has been flowing in. Here’s the latest weather warnings.

Tasmanians have been on high alert for flash storms with hail sweeping through some town — but seemingly missing Hobart.
North-West Coasters took to Facebook last night and into Wednesday morning with images of icy roads and hail-covered cars.
The storm bringing lightening, heavy rain and hail swept into the inner-North-West and into the North on Wednesday.
Reports on Facebook shared hail had reached across George Town, Exeter, Legana, Launceston and Bridgenorth.
Government minister Mark Shelton shared images showing the extent of the weather event at Longford.
The icy conditions triggered an alert from Tasmania Police warning of some roads being affected.
They advised to remain indoors when hail is falling, and if on the roads to slow down, use headlights, leave extra space, pay attention and be alert for icy and slippery roads.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Highlands Lakes Road was impacted by 100-200mm of snow between the Great Lake Hotel to Marlborough Junction. Police restricted access to 4x4 only.
In the South, Mt Wellington was closed at The Springs due to forecast ice.
Only a marine wind warning is current for the state with strong winds forecast for: Far North West Coast, Central North Coast, Banks Strait and Franklin Sound, East of Flinders Island, South West Coast and Central West Coast.
On Wednesday, much of the state is forecast to be hit with rain and cool temperatures, with the Northern centres of Burnie, Devonport and Launceston predicted to reach 12C.
Meanwhile, Hobart has missed most of the stormy condition with the Bureau forecasting 13 degrees for the capital with showers becoming less likely in the evening.
Showers are expected across the state in the major centres on Thursday, with rain less likely further south and all cities expected to reach 13C.
