CAR BURGLARIES ON EASTERN SHORE

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24

Bellerive police are investigating numerous car burglaries in the Howrah, Clarendon Vale and Cremorne areas over the last three nights.

Police say 15 vehicles have been broken into, with the majority unlocked at the time.

A number of items were stolen including wallets and money.

Police said it is a timely reminder that thieves are often opportunistic and are looking for a “quick grab”.

If they see a vehicle unlocked, it’s an attractive target for a burglary.

Police are appealing for any information in relation to the burglaries, or suspicious activity to be made known to police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to secure their vehicles to deter burglary:

Lock your car doors and make sure all the windows are up – make it hard for thieves to enter.

Don’t leave valuables in sight – if your car looks empty thieves may not bother trying to break in.

Park your car in a driveway or well-lit area at night – being easily seen may deter offenders.
