The family of a young man killed in a crash on Saturday evening have revealed the special bond he had with his nephew, his aspirations of being a dad and why he always “remained true to himself”.
Andrew ‘Evsey’ Everett died on when the car he was travelling in is believed to have swerved into an oncoming vehicle at Sandford.
His partner Maddie Baird, 19, and Rokeby man Brady Poole, 27, also died in the crash.
Two people in the other car were taken to Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.
Mr Everett’s family remembered their “beautiful boy” in a touching statement sent to The Mercury.
“Andrew was nothing but a happy, bright young man,” the family said.
“He had a tough start to life making silly mistakes, but he soon started making the right choices when he started working at Stornoway and owning his Commodore that he absolutely loved.”
The 28-year-old was one of five children, with the family revealing he was often the centre of attention.
“Andy always wanted to be famous, he wouldn’t leave the house without dressing in his nice branded clothing, his hair done and using a full can of deodorant.
“You would rarely catch him without a hat and without his hair straightened, he was a character.
“Andy was the one that was always happy in the family, he never stopped smiling and had a heart of gold. He was always the life of the party, there was never a dull moment when he was around.
“Andrew was the person who loved hard, he was so goofy.”
The family said Mr Everett enjoyed having a drink with his friends and with his father, Stuart.
He also loved fishing, darts, driving, speedway and salt and vinegar chips.
The family revealed he shared an extremely tight bond with his nephew, Makaio.
“Andrew absolutely adored his two-year-old nephew when he was born. He was always there to protect him.
“He was so over the moon when he first me him, he loved him so much. Andrew was always amazing with kids in the hope he would have one of his own.”
The Everetts are still trying to piece together their life after their beloved son was taken too soon.
“Without Andy our lives are going to be very different. We are always going to have a hole in our heart without that cheeky smile and that voice of his. We miss our boy dearly
“In a world full of judgment, Andy always remained true to himself.”
A police investigation into the crash is ongoing.
