Drizzly conditions are expected across Tasmania this long weekend but the state should be “mostly” spared from the wet on Anzac Day.

A cold front was approaching from the West on Thursday, set to brush the state’s South on Friday.

A ridge of high pressure will extend over Tasmania from the West on Saturday before a cold front moves across the state on Sunday.

Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Dean Narramore said Tasmanians could expect “a couple of showers here and there” but that it should be “mostly dry for Anzac Day and Dawn Services”.

“[Temperatures will be] getting into the high teens to low twenties through Tasmania,” he said.

“It’s going to be a showery day on Anzac Day across Tasmania, with partly cloudy skies, showers most widespread across Northern and Western parts of the state.

“And [it will be] generally a mild and windy day through Tasmania.

“Hobart is looking at a partly cloudy morning. It should be OK for the Dawn Services but showers will pick up during the afternoon.”

Showers are forecast on Saturday, mostly about the West and North-East, with Hobart tipped to receive up to 1mm of rain, most likely in the morning.

Rain is again predicted for Sunday, moving from the West into the South in the afternoon, and over to the East in the evening.

A cloudy day is forecast for Hobart, with a medium chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon. There will be a 60 per cent chance of up to 2mm of rain.

North-westerly winds of up to 15-20km/h are expected across the weekend in the capital.
