A brand-new app will connect Tasmanian tourists and residents to local businesses and tourism attractions.
The announcement of the Discover Tasmania app coincided with the launch of Tourism Tasmania’s off-season winter marketing campaign.
Minister for Tourism Jeremy Rockliff on Saturday said the campaign would build on the success of previous off season programs.
CEO of Tourism Tasmania Sarah Clark said the app would enhance tourist’s experience while visiting the state by offering detailed information on current attractions, allowing travellers to easily book or plan ahead.
“The app is really exciting, no other state has something like this, and it’s about feeding directly to the consumer what our businesses have to offer across Tasmania,” she said.
“It’s more of a curated experience, as opposed to just a Google search.”
Business details are fed through the Australian tourism data warehouse, and the business owner inputs their details which is then approved through Tourism Tasmania before being displayed on the app.
Ms Clark encouraged Tasmanian businesses to register their business on the app.
“Whether its food, experiences, accommodation – please get your business on the app, so that travellers can find you,” she said.
The Discover Tasmania app can be found on the Google Play and App Store.
