THE final form of Hobart’s newest plaza has been unveiled.

Developer Citta Property Group released images of how the shopfronts at 10 Murray St will look as the properties go on the market.

Scott Newton, managing director of real estate firm Knight Frank, whose company is marketing the leases, said they were already attracting significant interest from interstate.

“With only seven spaces available, food, retail or lifestyle businesses now have the opportunity to become part of this landmark project, ideally located between the CBD and the waterfront,” he said.

“Parliament Square is expected to house an eclectic mix of eateries from high-end restaurants to delicious on-the-go lunch places, with the potential for boutique retail or day spa brands.”

The Parliament Square site is expected to be a scaled-down version of Melbourne’s Federation Square, with the creation of a 2000 sqm plaza.

The space will be surrounded by commercial and retail spaces, including restaurants, cafes, offices, and be positioned next to the Salamanca Building and The Tasman, a new 152-room luxury hotel which is expected to open late next year.

“The recent entry and success of national brands like H&M and Mecca in and around the CBD is further proof of the confidence in the Hobart retail market,” Mr Newton said.

The $10 million demolition of the former government office block at 10 Murray St was the largest in the state’s history.

Expressions of interest for the new retail spots must be lodged by September 27.
