Malfunctioning equipment has been blamed for a fire which damaged a Derwent Park warehouse early on Wednesday morning.

Crews from Hobart and Glenorchy attended the fire at foundry and manufacturing business Derwent Industries in Sunderland St.

Sunderland St was closed for a short time while the fire was extinguished.

An investigation determined the cause of the fire was accidental and related to a compressor malfunction.

A spokeswoman for Tasmania Fire Service said the fire caused minimal structural damage.

No injuries were reported.
