Known by family and friends for her lovable crazy personality and smile that shined ‘brighter than the stars’, 19-year-old Catie Loane has been remembered in a touching service in Tasmania’s north.
Hundreds turned out to show their respect to the young farmer on Wednesday afternoon at Devonport after her tragic death rocked the tight knit community two weeks ago.
The teenager was a passionate fourth generation cattle farmer who was working on her family’s 600-hectare Latrobe property as a livestock manager for Dunroan Shorthorns with the hope of passing the business down to her children - a dream she revealed in an interview with the TasWeekend just last month.
In a ceremony officiated by Delma Carpenter loved ones shared their fondest memories of the teen who “lit up their lives”.
“She had knowledge beyond her years and was always up for a new challenge which is something I will always admire about her.” close friend Piper shared in a speech.
The service was livestreamed online and included a compliation of TikTok videos she had shared with her hundreds and thousands of followers of her life on the farm riding tractors, shearing sheep and tagging calves.
“Catie lived two lives - one where she could be up to her knees in mud, have odd socks on, hair not brushed and working on the farm. And the other, looking a million dollars.” Ms Carpenter said.
“She inspired thousands of people to consider a life in agriculture and insisted on proving to the world how great farming really is.” friend Georgia shared.
“Sometimes it’s best to avoid trying to understand a situation and just learn to accept it.”
“Catie you fought so well, you inspired so many, you loved so deeply, you lived so loudly and no one that ever knew you can ever forget you.”

Catie's family’s further heartbreak by ‘cruel’ scammers
The family of Catie Loane has warned the public about a fake fundraiser that has been set up following the tragic death of the young farmer last week.
The 19-year-old was known by many across the state as a trailblazer for young women in Tasmania’s agricultural industry, a fourth-generation farmer following in her father’s footsteps.
Mum Richele Loane posted to her Facebook on Tuesday urging family and friends not to donate.
“Sadly we have been notified of this page and implore everyone to not be caught up in it as it is a scam and not in any way authorised by family.” Mrs Loane said.
The fake fundraiser was set up on crowd-funding website GoGetFunding with a cover image of the 19-year-old.
The young woman worked on her family’s 600-hectare Latrobe property as a livestock manager for Dunroan Shorthorns.
A family friend who had been conned by the page shared her receipt online, revealing the fraudster’s details and the email address justiceforcoronavirus@gmail.com
Loved ones took to social media calling the fake page ‘beyond despicable’, ‘cruel’ and ‘disgusting’.
The page has since been removed.
