MUM, television and radio host, and the driving force behind a foundation that has raised millions for brain cancer research.

Carrie Bickmore has quite the full plate.

In November, she plans to visit Hobart to achieve another milestone — Point to Pinnacle finisher.

The popular host of Network Ten’s The Project has added celebrity clout to this year’s 25th anniversary of the Point to Pinnacle half marathon, confirming she is training for the event.

“I know it is going to be really tough and I’ll probably crawl over the finish line, but I can’t wait to see the view from the top,” Bickmore told the Mercury.

She intends to walk the course from Wrest Point to the pinnacle of kunanyi/Mt Wellington — pushing her daughter Adelaide in a pram.

Bickmore’s co-host on radio and Network Ten’s The Project, Tommy Little, is also coming to Tasmania and plans to run the gruelling half marathon.

“Of course, Tommy couldn’t be upstaged,” she said.

“We are so pumped. My team is family and close friends, so most of us have never done anything like this before. It is a huge challenge and taking us right out of our comfort zones.”

The Gold Logie winner was in Tasmania earlier this year and said she was “blown away” by the beauty of Hobart and, particularly, Mt Wellington.

She had heard of the Point to Pinnacle and felt inspired to give it a go.

“I thought it would be an incredible opportunity to take on a crazy adventure and raise funds for my foundation, Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer,” she said.

Bickmore began her campaign to increase awareness of brain cancer and raise money for research in 2015, in honour of her late husband Greg, who died from the disease.

More than $12 million has been raised since, but she said much more needed to be done.

“Brain cancer kills more people under 40 than any other cancer and kills more kids in this country than any other disease. Survival rates haven’t changed in 30 years. Currently there is no cure. We need to change this,” Bickmore said.

“This is going to be a huge challenge for us, but nothing compared to the fight that brain cancer patients and their families are taking on right now.”

The Point to Pinnacle half marathon and 10km Point to Pub is November 17.
