Police are investigating a fatal crash in Bridgewater overnight that left a 36-year-old Bridgewater man dead.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Bridgewater Bridge shortly before midnight, after a car collided with a pedestrian on the roadway.
Tasmania Police said sadly, the man died at the scene.
The 28-year-old Clarendon Vale man driving the vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, was not physically injured in the crash.
“Initial inquiries indicate it was raining at the time of the crash, and visibility was extremely poor due to weather conditions,” police said.
Traffic diversions were put in place with the Bridgewater Bridge closed while investigations were carried out.
“Our condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the family and loved ones of the man,” police said.
The matter has been reported to the Coroner and a full investigation will be conducted by Crash Investigation Services.
