Aquatic centre tops $18m Hobart City Council spend list

MORE parking for North Hobart, an aquatic centre upgrade and a revamp of the New Town retail precinct were all approved by Hobart City Council last night.
Council approved an annual update of the City of Hobart’s 10-year capital works program, committing to spend more than $18 million on city projects in 2019-20.
Major infrastructure spending approved included:
$5.6 MILLION for a major refurbishment of the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre, including new change rooms, a more accessible building and refreshed play space.
$1.25 MILLION for the upgrade of the New Town retail precinct.
$600,000 for parking expansion in North Hobart.
$600,000 for the Lower Sandy Bay playground toilet.
$475,000 for widening Huon Road to make the road safer for cyclists.
