Applicants for the latest round of Tasmanian Government travel vouchers will have a one in six chance of receiving a voucher, according to Premier Peter Gutwein.
Registrations closed at 5pm last night with 148525 Tasmanians applying for the $300 vouchers.
“This is a fantastic result that I’m sure will be warmly welcomed by our tourism and hospitality businesses that need extra help following recent border closures to our biggest markets,” Mr Gutwein said.
Twenty-five thousand vouchers, at a total value of $7.5 million, will be allocated via a ballot system to “ensure the vouchers are fairly allocated to as many Tasmanians as possible”.
Successful applicants will be notified on Wednesday.
“The last round of vouchers generated an estimated $27.5 million in additional spending as Tasmanians travelled across the State and into our regions, supporting countless local businesses and spreading the benefits across both our tourism and hospitality industries,” Mr Gutwein said.
“Thanks to all who registered their interest and best of luck in tomorrow’s ballot, and I look forward to seeing Tasmanians get out and experience all our beautiful State has to offer while supporting Tassie businesses.”
