Could you survive alone in the wilderness? A Tasmanian army vet, along with nine other contestants will do just that as part of a groundbreaking documentary series, Alone.

Completely isolated from the world and stripped of modern possessions, contact and comforts, the show follows 10 “survivalists” dropped in the remote wilds of Western Tassie with the last one standing set to walk away $250,000 richer.

Tasmanian contestant Chris, 39, is a retired war veteran of Iraq living with PTSD which he says has given him the skills to “keep going and going and going.”

His goal is to push himself to his limits and demonstrate that an anxiety disorder doesn’t have to impede on activity.

An avid fisherman, Chris started creating and sharing content around his fishing adventures as a way to connect with people going through similar trauma after service.

“Whether it’s diving in the ocean, camping, or exploring the land, all I know is that a life lived outside in the elements is where we as humans belong,” he said.

Unlike the survival shows that have preceded it, Alone requires its contestants to self-document their respective adventures in total isolation. No camera crews, no gimmicks and no help from the production team.

With just what’s in their pack and the habitat around them the survivalists must rely completely on themselves for food, water, shelter and warmth.

Alone has successful series in the US, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
