Aladdin JR is based on the iconic Disney movie and hit broadway show
The Friends’ School is bringing a Disney favourite to the stage this week performing Aladdin JR at the Playhouse Theatre.

Friends’ School students will live out their childhood dreams while putting on an entertaining show this week when they perform Disney’s Aladdin JR. at Hobart’s Playhouse Theatre.
The Senior School cast features students from Years 9-12 and the production team has created vibrant costumes and sets to transport the audience to the bustling streets of Agrabah and the Cave of Wonders.
Rupert Bullard, 17, who plays Aladdin, said he was more accustomed to performing in music groups than acting.
“I just thought it’s the last year of school I’ll give it another crack,” he said.
Severine Cherry, 17, said she was excited play the Genie, a role made famous on the big screen by comic icon Robin Williams.
“When they said it was Aladdin all I wanted to do was be the Genie,” she said.
Amelia Hoskin 17, said it was a dream come true to done the blue harem pants of Princess Jasmine.
“Aladdin has been my favourite Disney movie since I was a kid and Jasmine has always been my favourite princess. I’m just so honoured and grateful to be playing her,” she said.
Director Allan Jeffrey said the production was a testament to the students’ dedication and teamwork.
“The students have been working tirelessly to create a show that captures all the magic and wonder of the original story,” he said.
Aladdin JR by the’ Friends School will run from June 20 to 22 at the Playhouse Theatre in Bathurst St.
