TASMANIA’S premier agricultural event has been extended to four days in an effort to remain COVID-safe.
With its COVID Safe Event Plan now approved by Public Health, Agfest is going ahead this year under a new format.
This includes the field days now running from May 5 to 8 and in the cloud from May 8 to 15.
Committee chairman Ethan Williams thanked the state government for its cooperation in assessing and approving the plan.
“The Rural Youth volunteers understand that this will be the biggest event staged in Tasmania since the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the state,” he said.
“We take this responsibility extremely seriously, hence the huge amount of research and work that was conducted to prepare our COVID plan to ensure we can deliver Agfest back in the paddock in a compliant, safe and successful manner.”
Other changes will include a limit of 10,000 attendees per day, a change to the site plan, all ticket sales taking place online, free hand sanitising stations around the site and additional cleaning of amenities.
