A man has died after he was thrown from a car in a single-vehicle crash

One man is dead and another is in hospital after a single-vehicle rollover early this morning.

A 20-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash on Stonehouse Road, southeast of Ross.

The crash occurred about 4.30am today when the driver lost control of his white 2008 white Ford Ranger utility while attempting to negotiate a right hand curve while travelling east towards Tooms Lake.

The car rolled and the front seat passenger was thrown from the car. He was declared dead at the scene by ambulance paramedics.

The male driver was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.

The road was closed for 4½ hours after the crash. Crash investigation services and police forensics services remained on the scene until about 11am.
