UPDATED: POLICE are expecting to take a formal statement this afternoon from a teenage girl who was allegedly grabbed by a man in the public toilets of a popular Midland Highway roadstop.
“Tasmania Police has received a complaint in relation to an alleged incident at the Campbell Town public toilet block yesterday,” a police spokeswoman said.
“Police are investigating the allegation that a female teenager was approached by a man in the toilet block. The alleged victim is expected to make a formal statement this afternoon.”
The 17-year-old, who did not wish to be named, said the incident happened about 10.30am yesterday.
She said she entered the women’s toilets and discovered a middle-aged man in one of the stalls.
She said as she tried to leave the man grabbed her in a bear hug, but she was able to escape.
EARLIER: A LAUNCESTON teenager says she has made a report to police after being grabbed by a man in the public toilets in Campbell Town.
The 17-year-old, who did not wish to be named, said the incident happened about 10.30am on Sunday.
She said she entered the women’s toilets and discovered a middle-aged man in one of the stalls. She said as she tried to leave the man grabbed her in a bear hug, but she was able to escape.
Police could not confirm the report last night.
