How to make a spinning heart Valentine's Day card

As Valentine’s Day falls on a public holiday this year, Airbnb has shared its top picks for romantic getaways – from luxury lakeside spas to cottages in the rugged, rolling mountains.

Couples living locally or travelling from afar are investing in quality time this long weekend.

Airbnb Australia and New Zealand country manager Susan Wheeldon said the accommodation platform had seen high demand from soulmates looking to indulge.

“It’s great to see Tasmanians embracing their own backyard supporting hosts right around the

state,” Ms Wheeldon said.

“We are seeing a lot of interest in properties in regional Tasmania especially.

Ms Wheeldon encouraged more couples to get out and support “mum and dad” Airbnb hosts through the pandemic.

“Airbnb hosts go out of their way to provide really unique experiences that showcase

Tasmania, and these listings are perfect for a weekend away with that special someone.”

Here are seven intimate stays Airbnb has picked for special occasions.

Eagles Nest II

Perhaps one of the only things nicer that soaking in a spa is doing so right next to breathtaking Mount Roland.

This luxury private spa property in West Kentish also comes with massage, a chef, yoga, high tea and other add-ons for ultimate relaxation.

Up to six guests can stay, with three king bedrooms available.

Eagles Nest II boasts a number of spas both indoor and out, along with open fires to cosy up by and outdoor and bamboo showers.

Couples who love the outdoors can take on Mount Roland together.

The five-star property is available for $800 a night.

Slow Beam

Fields and mountains surround the secluded property.

A countryside gem in the Mersey Valley fuses earthy splendour with chalet charm.

Guests at Ariel Cottage can retire in the vibrant, warm wooden living room beside a comfy fireplace after spending a day in gorgeous farming fields, or on the deck by the dam.

It’s quaint, traditional architecture with a fresh, homely feel, optimal for two guests at $350 a night.

Thalia Haven

Hidden away on stunning seaside acreage sits an East Coast haven with its own exclusive beach.

Thalia Haven is a short drive from Hobart, but it’s completely off the grid.

The space has four king beds, and one single bed, with access for up to eight guests at a time.

Thalia Haven also has scenic outdoor baths perfect for capturing romantic sunsets.

The Keep

For the ultimate romantic grandeur, this two-guest stay in the North East is fitted with a spacious stone outdoor bath.

The Keep has panoramic views of rolling wilderness at Gould’s Country, and is perched high in the hills.
