Cairns Taipans fans have been called out to turn up at the clubs first home game of the season when they take on the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night.
The Taipans are coming off a massive loss to start the NBL season in the inaugural Hoopsfest in Perth and will look to bounce back in round 2 at Cairns Convention Centre.
Taipans guard Rob Edwards said the bigger the crowd, the bigger he plays.
“It’s an exciting game, we are going to fight to the end,” Edwards said.
“I feel like we kind of figured out ourselves being down men and short on men, figuring it out within ourselves who to play to win.
“We want to put on a show, bunch of rebounding, bunch of hard nose and putting points on the board.
“I heard they (the fans) come deep, I am ready to see it.
“The more people in there, the more my energy level is going to be turned up.
“I already got a high energy level, but if I see bunch of people in and it’s loud, it is only going to make me want to go harder.
“Bring it, orange army come on.”
Edwards said there was a lot to take out of the round 1 loss.
“Learning, we down a few guys but at the end of the day we get back to the drawing board and figure out what it is we need to do,” Edwards said.
“Probably till about Tuesday it was on my mind but I have blocked it out now and I am onto the next.
“I am a natural scorer, but right now I am just trying to get everyone else involved, trying to points on the board for our team.
“I know they (Adelaide) will come out hard and probably think we will just lay down but we at home.
“Like I said, I want to put on a show for our fans and I want that support all season.
“We ain’t going to give up easy, it is going to be a tough battle for them.”
Adelaide 36ers are coming off a loss in the opening round as well as coach Mike Wells baking at training.
“We bring it every night, we are going to get in their head, we going to say stuff, do stuff that may get in their head,” Edwards said.
“We never really seen about their coach, I haven’t at least.
“We just focus on ourselves.”
