Waitlist for viral Dubai Chocolate at The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery

An Adelaide Central Market stall has been forced to put customers on a waitlist amid mass hysteria for an internationally-viral sweet treat, taking the world by storm.

Is Dubai’s TikTok-viral chocolate worth the hype?

South Aussies love a sweet treat.

We were famous for carting truckloads of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts home on interstate flights (before you could buy them here) after all.

And now we have another sugar craze.

Enter — Dubai Chocolate — crunchy pistachio filling and heavenly chocolate flown all the way from the United Arab Emirates straight to The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery at the Adelaide Central Market.

But they are sold out.

That’s right — The Turkish Delight, which opened in 2016, has been forced to open a waiting list for the $25 chocolate bars.

The sweetery has declared on social media they will be restocking the sugary delights on Tuesday March 18, however if you want to guarantee a bar, you better have your name and quantity on the waitlist.

The Turkish Delight Mediterranean Sweetery, which also has a brick and mortar store on Rundle Street, is run by mother-son duo Mona and Mohammad Hassan.

“We knew it would be popular but didn’t expect this reaction,” Mr Hassan told The Advertiser.

With 20 people on the waitlist so far and more messages incoming Mr Hassan said he’s never seen so much demand for a product.

A single customer even spent $125 on five chocolate bars.

The pair display the Dubai Chocolate which is filled with pistachio and khafeh, a traditional Arabic dessert made with kadayif, a spun pastry dough on a three tiered silver platter in their Adelaide Central Market location.

With about 500 bars sold so far, Mr Hassan said he planned to continue to stock the chocolate in his store.

“It wouldn’t be so popular if it didn’t taste good,” he said.

And if you didn’t manage to get your hands on a chocolate bar, you could snag a doughnut.

A quick trip to the Barossa could also satisfy your chocolate pistachio craving.

Browns Barossa Gourmet Donuts brought back their Dubai Pistachio Knafeh doughnuts due to popular demand on Saturday.

Selling out in hours last time — the sweet treats were back on Saturday for a day only.
