TikTok car hoons: SA’s worst hoon drivers who upload videos to the app

They’re risking lives by filming dangerous races and burnouts, and putting them on TikTok just for likes – but police are watching. See the videos here.

South Australian hoons are filming dangerous acts and sharing them to TikTok, in a trend police say they are investigating.

Videos of burnouts, doughnuts and other dangerous acts with vehicles such as street racing are being uploaded to the app, with each trying to outdo the last.

A spokesman for SA Police said vision of hooning on any platform could be used as evidence, and police took a no-tolerance approach to dangerous and irresponsible driving.

“Police will follow up on vision showing dangerous or criminal acts and will take action as necessary,” the spokesman said.

Despite the risk, videos showing burnouts in front of homes, street racing and other dangerous acts are littered throughout the popular app, with hoons cheekily telling viewers the videos were “filmed in Mexico”.

In May, the state government introduced new laws that mean hoon drivers face jail sentences and increased licence disqualifications.

“Police discourage the uploading of hoon driving on to social media as it may encourage others to drive in a similar manner,” the police spokesman said.

“The increase in the use of dashcams and social media assists police to identify drivers and take action against those who participate in this errant behaviour.

“People who choose to drive their vehicle in a way that blatantly disregards their own safety, and importantly, the safety of other road users, deserve to be heavily penalised.”

Most of the videos are been flagged as dangerous by TikTok, with a disclaimer appearing below each video saying “the actions in this video could result in serious injury”.

Anyone who sees dangerous driving is asked to contact 131 444 at the time and provide information of the incident, the registration numbers and the type of vehicles involved.

In no particular order, see the five worst South Australian TikTok hoons below:
