Three people have accidentally set their car alight while allegedly attempting to torch a home in Port Pirie

A trio of would-be arsonists have torched themselves and their getaway car during a bumbling attack caught on camera.

Three people have accidentally set themselves on fire while allegedly attempting to commit an arson attack on a property in Port Pirie.

SA Police has released CCTV footage of a trio dousing the front yard of a home on Young St, Solomontown, with accelerant just after midnight on Monday.

However, instead of successfully setting the property ablaze, the interior of their getaway car catches fire.

The trio fled the scene and abandoned the car in the street.

Police discovered the burning car upon arrival, and it was extinguished.

The occupants of the house were not injured during the incident, but the exterior of their house was charred with flames.
