South Australian tennis sensation Thanasi Kokkinakis has opened up about his ongoing efforts to heal a pectoral injury.
In a post to Instagram on Thursday, Kokkinakis shared a video of himself going in and out of surgery for the persisting injury as he battles a pectoral injury.
“Been struggling for a little while with this… Probably my toughest challenge to date,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’ve been trying to find the answers to an ongoing Pec injury that I haven’t been able to fix. Let’s see how this goes.”
Kokkinakis revealed his struggle with a pectoral injury after his second round defeat to Britain’s Jack Draper in this year’s Australian Open.
In the video shared to social media on Thursday, loved ones wish Kokkinakis “all the best” ahead of the surgery.
Following the procedure, a medicated Kokkinakis says “bro, I’m cooked.”
Hundreds of fans and supporters responded with well wishes for the tennis star, including the official Australian Open account and French tennis player Lucas Pouille.
“Get well soon my friend,” Pouille wrote.
Another supporter wrote “comeback’s going to be bigger than the setback my guy”.
