The man charged over the alleged horrific attack of a mother in Adelaide’s busiest shopping strip has pleaded guilty to all charges against him except the assault charge itself.
Scott Michael Antrobus appeared via video link from custody in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon, where he has been since his arrest earlier this month.
The 37-year-old was charged with one basic count of assault, resisting police, refusing to provide his name and address and to possession of an ice pipe after an incident in Rundle Mall earlier this month, during which he allegedly assaulted a woman, 43, in front of her child.
It is alleged neither the woman nor child were known to Mr Antrobus, who was tackled to the ground by a good Samaritan known as “Sang”.
On Tuesday, Antrobus pleaded guilty to all charges – including some unrelated to his offending in Rundle Mall – with his lawyer flagging negotiations on the assault charge were on foot.
Rachel Regester, for Antrobus, entered guilty pleas on his behalf to hinder police, possess prescribed equipment and refuse name and address charges, as well as to other unrelated charges of aggravated theft, possessing a controlled drug and equipment, and breaching bail.
Ms Regester said she had requested further material relating to the final charge of assault causing harm.
“The only file which I have sent negotiations on is in relation to the assault charge, probably the most serious file before the court,” she said.
“I have written to prosecution, and requested some material in respect to the cause harm element.”
Antrobus was remanded in custody and will return to court in May.
