SA Police launch Murray Bridge manhunt after serious Neumann Ave assault leaves life-threatening injuries

Police at Murray Bridge have revealed what they know about the incident as they hunt for the culprit.

A 34-year-old man is fighting for his life in the hospital after an alleged assault at Murray Bridge on Tuesday, with police now on the hunt for his alleged attacker.

It is alleged that the man was viciously hit in the back of his head, before his attacker picked him up and dumped him in a trolley on its side before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred at Neumann Ave just before 12pm, with police and emergency services arriving to find the victim, a local man with an injury to the back of his head.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Local resident, Kim Peterson spoke to 7News Adelaide at the scene and described the aftermath of the assault, when the man was taken away by paramedics.

“They got him out of the trolley, put him on a stretcher and put him in the ambulance, and then there was about seven police cars blocked off the street,” she said.

“They have been here all day doing crime scene investigations.”

The incident happened just around the corner from where two victims of the Snowtown Murders, Troy Youde and Gary O’Dwyer were killed in 1998.

Local forensic officers attended the scene and conducted an examination.

Murray Mallee Detectives are investigating the incident.

Police said they do not believe the incident to be a random attack, and have asked anyone who witnessed it or may have information to assist the investigation is asked to contact Crimestoppers.
