Royal Commission into Defence, Veteran Suicide 12/08/2022

Julie-Ann Finney has been on a one-woman mission to expose defence injustices since her 38-year-old navy son David suicided in 2019. 

A nine-year-old girl living in squalor and surrounded by animal faeces, rotten food and a flooded house, was twice allowed to return to the care of her grandfather despite police officers labelling the conditions “sickening”. 

A battle over developer Theo Maras’s $27m “legacy” apartment tower in the city will head to the Full Supreme Court, with a high-profile neighbour launching a new challenge against the project. 

The state’s top netball league will undergo an “evolution” in an effort to create a more even competition following more than a decade of domination by two clubs.
