Pedestrian fighting for life after being hit by car on South Rd at Edwardstown

A 39-year-old man is in hospital with critical injuries after being struck by a car near a major Adelaide shopping centre.

A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in Adelaide’s inner-southern suburbs.

Just before 11.15pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to South Road near Castle Plaza at Edwardstown after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a silver Mazda sedan.

The pedestrian, a 39 -year-old from Hackham West, was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the car, a 56-year-old man from Hallett Cove, was not injured.

The road was closed and reopened just before 4am.

Major Crash investigators went to the scene to examine the circumstances of the crash, and anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
