Three people have been arrested following a shooting at Para Hills on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to Liberman Rd after reports of a group fighting in the street around 2:45pm.

Police cars blocked off Liberman Rd from the corner of Barcoo Rd, beside the Para Hills Uniting Church.

Upon arrival, police discovered a shot had been fired causing damage to a vehicle, which had slashed tyres, parked in the street.

A 20-year-old Munno Para man was arrested after fleeing the scene and was found to be in possession of a balaclava.

Police also recovered shotgun ammunition in the street, believed to have been discarded by the arrested man.

He was charged with possessing ammunition, carrying an article of disguise, affray and hindering police.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

As part of their investigations, Youth and Street Gang Detectives searched a nearby home resulting in the arrest of a 25-year-old man from Para Hills and an 18-year-old woman from Salisbury East.

They were both charged with hindering police, with the man refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The woman was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 9 February.

Residents raised the alarm after hearing a number of loud bangs followed by someone screaming and crying.

“We thought it was bin lids (being slammed) but now with the extent of police and somebody crying, somebody screaming … we think it was gunshots,” one resident told 7News.

There were more than a dozen evidence markers laid out on the road and footpath with police seen investigating a white Commodore.

A tow truck arrived to remove the damaged vehicle involved in the incident.

There were no reports of injuries.
