New photos have emerged of notorious teen killer Bevan Spencer von Einem, as the convicted murderer lives out his final days in a prison hospital.
von Einem is seen pictured in a green shirt, looking visibly aged, and appears to be conversing with someone over a video call from Port Augusta Prison.
9News shared video footage of the prison call, in which a man is heard asking him “How about that? Does that bring some memories back?”, after showing von Einem a photo from several decades ago.
Von Einen responds with, “Oh, I don’t want to think about it”, to which the man says “No, I bet you don’t”.
The killer, 79, who is currently on his deathbed and was rushed to the Yatala infirmary via ambulance on Monday, was convicted of killing 15-year-old Adelaide teenager Richard Kelvin in 1983.
Sentenced to life imprisonment in 1984, the killer has also been linked to other unsolved murders which are often described as “the Family murders”.
Another victim, Mark Langley, for whose murder von Einem had previously been charged, was 18 when he died in 1982; the charges were dropped less than a year later.
His sisters Robyn Langley and Michelle Williams sat down with 7News, saying “now is the time for justice” and pleaded for more work to be done by the government to solve the ‘Family murders’.
The sisters say they want justice for all the families impacted by the gruesome series of crimes.
Ms Langley said the names of all the victims who were linked to the Family murders, starting with Alan Barnes, Neil Muir, Peter Stogneff, Richard Kelvin, followed by “my brother Mark”.
“He was my big brother and I adored him,” Ms Langley said.
“I watched my father fight so hard to see justice and so many times let down … and the devastation in his face.
“I wish (von Einem) no mercy.”
“It just seems like a lot of people have been protected by a lot of people in very high places,” Ms Williams said.
“What we do hope is that it brings forward people who were either associated with him with the courage to now say what really happened.”
Mark Langley disappeared in February 1982 after a night out. His body was found in the Adelaide foothills nine days later.
The sisters are pleading for justice and hope for a deathbed confession from von Einem as he lives out his last days at Yatala Labour Prison.
