Man, 85, caught drink driving at four times the limit after Adelaide Hills crash

An elderly man has been charged with drink driving after he allegedly left the scene of an Adelaide Hills crash and later returned a staggering breath test reading.

An elderly man has been reported for drink driving after he blew four times the legal limit after a crash in the Adelaide Hills.

Emergency services were called to Tippett Rd at Chain of Ponds just before 5.30pm on Saturday following reports a Volkswagen and Hyundai had collided.

The driver of the Volkswagen left the scene before police arrived. Police say the driver – an 85-year-old man from Lobethal – was later found at home and allegedly returned a positive breath test reading of 0.201.

He was reported for leaving the scene of the crash and drink driving, and was issued an instant loss of licence.

A 28-year-old woman, from Moana, and her 36-year-old passenger, who were in the Hyundai, were not injured in the crash.
