Kidman Park Pizza House named Adelaide’s best pizza place after 36 years in business

After 36 years in business, a western suburbs favourite has taken out a top pizza gong – and the owner has revealed his secret to success.

A western suburbs pizza place has been named Adelaide’s best, with its owner attributing its culinary success to “good sauce, pastry and passion”.

Family-run Kidman Park Pizza House on Grange Rd took home the top gong in a radio competition for the title, with owner Mario Cavuto thanking his loyal customers for their support.

The popular joint has serviced Kidman Park locals for 36 years.

“It’s just amazing to be in the same spot for 36 years and see the same people come through,” Mr Cavuto told Triple M’s Roo, Ditts & Loz.

“Obviously over the 36 years I’ve seen the parents, the kids come through and their kids. That’s three generations of people.”

Mr Cavuto said a great pizza came down to “good sauce, pastry, good service, consistency, the passion and the staff is good”, and said the store’s standout favourite was the pepperoni and Mario Special, which includes ham, salami, mushrooms, capsicum and olives.

Kidman Park Pizza’s sauce uses Mr Cavuto’s secret recipe – which he holds close to his chest – and also offers a crowd-favourite dessert made by his mother-in-law Giovanna.

“It’s a nice, traditional tiramisu,” he said.

“I’d like to thank all my customers and my wife and kids and my staff and to everyone else that’s been along the journey for 36 years and have supported me. It is really fantastic.”
