A proposal was being considered by the Holdfast Bay Council to extend the dry zone in Glenelg.
The motion put forward by counsellor Bob Patton proposed that the dry zone align with the boundaries of the “New Year’s Eve extended Area” all year round.
He asked “Council endorse administration to work with SA Police and other relevant stakeholders to extend the current Glenelg Dry Area … ensuring the Glenelg precinct is a Dry Zone all year round to support SAPOL operations”.
However, a City of Holdfast Bay spokeswoman confirmed on Wednesday that Mr Patton withdrew the motion ahead of Tuesday night’s council meeting.
The current dry zone is bounded by Colley Terrace, Kent St and Saint Annes Terrace, including both Colley and Wigley Reserves, Moseley Square, the Glenelg foreshore and the beach areas.
