A northern suburbs father has become an overnight multi-millionaire after winning The Lott’s Set for Life draw, which will give him $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The Davoren Park man was the only ticket holder for the division-one winning entry in the Set for Life draw 3437, drawn on Thursday.
The winning will be paid in monthly instalments bringing the prize total to $4.8m.
He purchased a two-game QuickPick through The Lott app, saying it’s “life-changing” as he can now fulfil his dream of building a new family home.
“I’ve got a young family, and this will help us build a house. I’ve always wanted to build a nice family home for us,” he said to an official from The Lott.
“It just means the world to my family and will really set us up for the future.
The regular Set for Life player said he had a restless sleep last night, while eagerly waiting for the draw results.
“I’ve had a few little wins recently and then the big one last night,” he said.
“I looked at my ticket last night, saw I had the numbers and showed my wife, but she was saying, ‘no we didn’t, no we didn’t’.
“All night we were literally going, ‘no we didn’t, no we didn’t’. It’s unbelievable!”
The winning numbers were 1, 14, 32, 43, 16, 36 and 34, while the supplementary numbers were 2 and 12.
It comes after a mystery Riverland local snapped up more than a million dollars in Saturday’s X Lotto jackpot – but they’re yet to claim the prize.
Once they have come forward, they will pocket $1,352,707.86.
The mystery millionaire holds one of the four division-one winning entries in X Lotto draw 4533, drawn on Saturday, December 28.
