Crows star Tex Walker smashes monster six in suburban cricket stunner

AFL star Tex Walker has stunned suburban cricket spectators with a monster six that rocketed into a neighbouring tree during his team's Twenty20 victory.

Tex goes big: Crows forward belts huge six in casual team cricket game

It wasn’t the Oval, but Tex Walker still found a way to send a crowd into raptures.

The Adelaide Crows forward put on a show during Prince Alfred Old Collegians’ Twenty20 clash against St Peter's Old Collegians on Tuesday night, lighting up Wilson Oval with one of the biggest hits you’ll see in suburban cricket.

With the PAOC division 3 side chasing victory, Walker stood tall, picked his spot over the leg side and unleashed — the crack off his bat echoing across the ground like a gunshot.

The ball rocketed skyward, heading toward a neighbouring backyard before a very sturdy tree intervened.

A stunned “wow” rose from the sidelines as cheers erupted, and Walker and skipper Jordan Dawson shared a triumphant moment while the ball was retrieved.

Walker finished unbeaten on 26, peppering the boundary with three fours and that monster six as he and Dawson steered their side to victory with 5.3 overs to spare.

It wasn’t just Tex doing the damage.

Small forward Lachie Murphy and Dawson were just as handy with the ball, grabbing two wickets each and keeping things tight with economy rates under five runs an over.

The win continues a strong start to the season for the mix and match Crows past and present team, who have now claimed two victories from two matches.

They opened their campaign with a commanding 99-run win over Unley on November 18, posting an impressive 167 before bowling their opponents out for just 68.

But the moment of the night belonged to Walker, Dawson and that poor tree — a backyard-saving hero that stopped the six from landing squarely in someone’s laps over the fence.

For a midweek hitout, it doesn’t get much more entertaining than that.
