Police have swarmed a Seaton home after a sword-wielding man who allegedly robbed a bottle shop was tracked down by the police chopper.

At 12.15pm on Friday, SA Police patrols were called to Port Rd in Thebarton following reports a bottle shop had been robbed.

Police will allege a black Mitsubishi Outlander entered the bottle shop before the driver, brandishing a knife, got out and stole alcohol.

The car was then seen heading west on Phillips St.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Some time later, police saw the suspect vehicle heading south along Tapleys Hill Rd before the police helicopter was called in to track the vehicle.

It was eventually stopped at Trimmer Pde in Seaton and the driver ran off.

Police officers located the man in the rear yard of a nearby home, but he was armed with a sword.

They managed to arrest him without further incident and the stolen alcohol was recovered from the vehicle.

The man, a 41-year-old from Adelaide, was charged with aggravated robbery and was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
