An early morning police chase through the Adelaide Hills has led to the arrest of two people after a car and caravan crashed.

The incident unfolded after a Finniss resident reported his Nissan Patrol 4WD stolen at 2.20am on Saturday.

Police responded and were able to spot the stolen car travelling east on Callington Rd at Woodchester, which prompted a pursuit.

The situation escalated when a second car, a Great Wall station wagon, towing a caravan, overtook the police vehicle and sideswiped it as it drove past.

The officers inside were not injured.

As the pursuit continued, the Great Wall station wagon lost control and crashed on Callington Rd.

The 35-year-old driver from Wellington fled the scene but returned shortly after leading to his arrest.

He faces several charges including endangerment of life, driving while disqualified and illegal use of a motor vehicle.

A 30-year-old Murray Bridge woman who was driving the stolen Nissan Patrol went back to the scene and was quickly arrested.

She was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, breach of bail and driving without a license.

They were both denied bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Investigations revealed that the caravan had been stolen from Mount Compass, but the Great Wall station wagon was not reported stolen.
