Toowoomba detectives investigating robberies in Highfields and Newtown

Police are hunting multiple offenders after Highfields residents woke up to a terrifying incident where they were threatened with a knife, with a robbery following in Newtown.

Toowoomba detectives are on the hunt for four offenders who committed multiple robberies overnight.

Detective Acting-Senior Sergeant John Cunningham said that the offenders entered a home on Lynne Court in Highfields about 4.30am on Tuesday, produced a knife and threatened the occupants.

“The offenders stole items from the house and a vehicle,” Senior Sergeant Cunningham said.

They fled in a Toyota Yaris wagon that was stolen from the address.

A short time later, about 5.15am, the same group approached two men who were waiting in a vehicle on Poinciana St in Newtown and demanded that they hand over property.

They left the scene in three vehicles including a white sedan and two dark-coloured SUVs.

“One of the offenders punched the victims in the face and stole their phones,” Senior Sergeant Cunningham said.

No one received any serious physical injuries in either incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV or other vision from the Lynne Court area between 4-5am or Poinciana St between 5-5.30am to come forward.
