Pheobe Bishop search continues as James Wood released without charge

A witness working at a car dealership has described the eerie moment the housemate of missing teen Pheobe Bishop was picked up by police as her family marks three weeks since her disappearance. DETAILS.

Three weeks to the day since Gin Gin teenager Pheobe Bishop was reported missing, the desperate search for answers continues.

The Bundaberg Cemetery became the eerie backdrop for the moment when 34-year-old James Wood got into a car with police on Wednesday afternoon and was taken to the station for questioning before being released some hours later without charge.

Workers at the car dealership across the road on Takalvan St got front row seats to the unfolding incident.

One witness, a worker at the car dealership by the name of Chris said despite reports, the moment was without drama.

“He behaved” he said,

“[Police] checked him out, put him in the car and off they went.”

Chris was waiting in traffic near his workplace when he noticed police speaking to Mr Wood.

“He was just sitting in the car.

“They [police] were being cautious”

Despite wide reports of guns being drawn, Chris said he saw no such thing.

“He [Mr Wood} co-operated, he didn’t try to run away,” Chris said, explaining Mr Wood’s Hyundai was still parked out the front of the cemetery when he closed up shop about 5.30pm.

Later in the evening, while driving to the gym, Chris said he passed by the dealership again about 8pm and the car was gone.

Pheobe, 17, was due to fly from Bundaberg to Brisbane and then on to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend on May 15, but failed to board the flight.

Police had been told Ms Bishop was last seen at Airport Dr with luggage, however investigators said they have no confirmed sightings of the teen at the airport.

The teenager has not contacted friends or family, and her bank accounts have not been accessed since the day she was last seen.

Police continue to investigate the 17-year-old’s disappearance.
