Dozens of rural firefighters are working to contain a large grass fire that’s threatening a number of properties near Warwick.
Queensland Fire Department crews were called to reports of a grass fire on Woodhill Rd about 12.30pm.
A QFD spokesman said strong winds meant the fire has spread quickly, with crews working on a containment strategy.
The fire had moved past Woodhill Rd just before 3pm and was roughly 500m from the nearest property, with surrounding properties no longer under threat, the QFD spokesman said.
A ‘stay informed’ warning was issued to residents in the nearby area about 1.10pm and remains in place.
The fire is said to be covering approximately 80ha and is about 2m high.
Crews are continuing to work on a containment plan as of 3.50pm.
Air support has not yet been called in.
