Queenstown resident Cameron Goss killed in gold mine rockfall

THE victim of the Henty gold mine tragedy on Tasmania’s West Coast has been revealed as 44-year-old Queenstown resident Cameron Goss.
Tasmania Police today released brief details about Mr Goss as efforts continue at the underground mine which could lead to the recovery of his body.
In the statement, police have confirmed there is little hope of finding Mr Goss alive.
“Police have today released the name of the mine worker killed at Henty Gold Mine on Thursday. He is Cameron John Goss, aged 44 years, of Queenstown,” the statement said.
“Mr Goss, a local Queenstown resident, well-loved on the West Coast, was experienced in the
mining industry.
“His loss is devastating to the family, friends and the local community, together to
the wider mining industry across Australia.
“The family of the deceased are coming to terms with their loss and they request continued
privacy at this time.”
Police also released a photograph of Mr Goss.
Police said on Friday that drone technology revealed the machine Mr Goss was operating at the time of the rockfall is buried under rocks.
