The family of a mother who was allegedly murdered by her husband and brother-in-law southwest of Brisbane are pleading to be reunited with her children.

Muzhda Habibi, 23, was found unconscious and unresponsive, and died at her Springfield home in what police are treating as a domestic violence murder.

Her 26-year-old husband and his 28-year-old brother, both from Springfield Lakes, have been charged with one count each of murder (domestic violence offence).

Khalillulah and Masihullah Habibi appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 20.

The matter was listed for committal mention on June 25, with neither required to appear on that occasion. The men remain in custody.

Women’s advocate Rita Anwari is speaking out on behalf of the family. Muzhda’s sister is in the UK, her brother in Spain and her mother in Afghanistan. Her mother was admitted to hospital on hearing her daughter had been killed.

Emergency services responded to a call at a home on Ash Ave in Springfield Lakes around 8pm on Friday May 19, following reports that a woman had collapsed. On arrival, officers discovered the woman unconscious and not breathing.

Despite efforts by police and paramedics to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“As soon as she heard the story her daughter has been killed ... The family is devastated. [Her mother] collapsed, she is in hospital and can hardly talk with me,” Ms Anwari said.

“This is really, really upsetting the community ... now the blue tape is down there at her house and a beautiful voice now gone from our community.”

Ms Anwari said the family was desperate to be reconnected with Muzhda’s two children, aged three and four.

“We want, and Muzhda’s family want, the children to be looked after by their blood relatives, which is her grandmother or siblings,” she said.

“These little children don't speak English and they are with a family they don't know and we don’t know either.”

Muzhda was raised in Afghanistan, and Ms Anwari said she frequently travelled back and forth.

“Recently, she moved to Springfield Lake, which is about five minutes walking from my house,” she said.

“Sometimes she was in the park sitting alone, isolated that she doesn’t want to be in touch with anyone. I saw here three or four times in the park.

“She got married and with this fella to come to Australia to complete her education, to go to work, and also she had a dream to see her children as graduated from university.”

Ms Anwari said a funeral will be organised.
