What you said about Premiers demanding PM honour hospital deal as patients remain stranded
The nation's premiers have united against Anthony Albanese over funding – now everyday Aussies are having their say. HAVE YOUR SAY
Australia’s premiers are on a collision course with Anthony Albanese – and readers are jumping into the debate.
It was revealed the nation’s premiers escalated their hospital funding fight, issuing a rare joint letter to the Prime Minister warning that thousands of vulnerable patients will remain stranded in hospital beds unless he honours the 2023 deal and lifts support for aged care and NDIS services.
The move capped a week of political pressure ignited by News Corp Australia’s Sick of Waiting campaign that revealed the scale of the crisis unfolding at state hospitals.
The letter, signed by every state and territory leader in Australia, demanded Mr Albanese fulfils his promise to lift the federal hospital funding share to 42.5 per cent by 2030 and 45 per cent by 2035.
It also demands Canberra “design and properly fund” NDIS care reforms and increase funding for aged care and NDIS services.
Launched on November 16, the Sick of Waiting campaign spotlighted Australians stuck in public hospitals waiting months – and sometimes more than a year – for aged care or NDIS placements.
As states warned of a looming breakdown in talks, Mr Albanese repeatedly stressed the federal offer on the table had grown from $13bn in 2023 to $20bn today.
He rejected claims the federal government was failing in its responsibility for aged care.
Readers piled into the conversation, with many taking aim at Albo’s handling of the crisis.
Some, however, confronted voters and the Labor party, while others stressed there are wider concerns that need to be addressed.

WHAT YOU SAID
Typical Albo
John
There are no votes in helping the aged for Albo, he is too busy giving away goodies to the younger generation who are more likely to vote for him
Marita
Many of them voted for Albo and they got the socialist who’s now showing his true colours. Aged care won’t be fixed, there’s an incompetent minister and even more incompetent PM.
M
Another portfolio, another reckless disaster our worst prime minister in history denies, avoids, deflects responsibility for. Wake up Australians and vote this government out at the next election.
Paul
As an effected Aussie Senior, I simply despair at where Aged Care is just not going, Albo is a classic “Show Pony” no real action on issues that really matter to folks just more “Balderdash”
Aussie
Wonder what the PM would do if his mother was alive and required an aged care bed ??? Would he walk the streets looking for a bed somewhere? Hardly ! How can he understand if not experiencing the pain and anxiety and despair with this social issue!!!!!
I blame Labor
Spike
And sadly, that younger generation will get older and finally understand that Labor don’t really care about anyone other than themselves!
Jayton
Meanwhile Albo spends billions on renewables and health care is a disaster Labor priorities
C
I’m convinced that Albo, Chalmers & Labor couldn’t give a toss about older Australian’s. They want to strip them of the “wealth “ they spent their lives earning and saving then leave them to die without proper medical &/or care services. It’s disgusting how this government is treating our elderly.
Harry
Stop the idiotic spending on solar and wind farms and put that money towards aged care Albo.
philip
Labor has made aged care so expensive that ordinary people can’t afford it. Aged care homes are closing and providers aren’t taking up new beds being offered by the government. In other words Labor has well and truly stuffed up.
Do the right thing
HeySiri
There’s only one solution for Australia’s death spiral – get rid of Albo and his Labor cronies. Vote like your life depends on it – because it does.
Cheryl
Unfortunately the younger generations don’t think about the future and fail to realise they will be ‘the older generation’ one day and vote for the Party that continue to give them the ‘sugar hits’
Ewan Mee
How was Albanese and Labor ever actually elected to run this country? He’s happy to waste $ billions talking about climate but won’t fund essentials like hospitals and aged care.
Rod
Worst Prime minister ever, not my fault I didn’t vote for them. I knew they would send Australia broke as they always do, state and federal. Someone always has to fix their mess but this time I don’t think we will recover.
