A B-double truck has caught fire at East End west of Gladstone, forcing emergency services to close the Bruce Highway in both directions.

The truck was fully engulfed in flames about 9pm, with multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews attending.

Both lanes of the Bruce Highway were closed 1.5km south of the Mount Alma Rd intersection.

A QFES spokesman said crews had contained the truck fire by 9.45pm, with firefighters continuing to work on a nearby grassfire.

Police have opened the southbound lane allowing traffic to flow, while the northbound lane remains closed.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
