Tributes are flowing for a much-loved member of the motorcycling community who was killed in a crash northwest of Brisbane.

Douglas Hart, 41, was found dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash on Northbrook Pkwy, Dundas, in the Somerset region at 10pm Monday.

It’s understood the Woolloongabba man was riding his red Ducati before it left the road.

It’s believed Mr Hart had been riding since 10.30am Sunday and had headed out to do a few laps around Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious, but did not return home.

Mr Hart, who had been reported missing for over 24 hours, was found after a search effort was launched by members of the motorcycling community in South East Queensland.

Tributes have since flowed from Mr Hart’s family and friends.

“Our family is heartbroken but we have taken enormous comfort from the outpouring of support from the community in the search for him,” Mr Hart’s sister Trish Richards said.

She went onto praise members of the motorcycling community for the overwhelming support following his death and the establishment of a GoFundMe campaign to support the family.

“So many amazing people from this group reached out to me last night to keep me updated about my brother Doug,” she posted.

“My whole family is so incredibly thankful for everyone’s efforts to find him.

“It brought both my parents to tears when I explained how big the outpouring of support from the online community had been.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Friends and members of the wider motorcycling community also paid tribute to him.

“The community rallied together like I very rarely see to find him and this is not the end result that we were hoping for,” Visceral Visuals posted.

“It’s times like these where people will crow about safe riding but we are all adults and we know the risky side of the incredible joy riding brings to all of us who jump in the saddle.

“All I can say is - hug your loved ones and make sure you make every day count because your world can be turned upside down in an instant as I’m sure his grieving partner and family is today.

“Rest in peace Doug.”

“Heartbreaking news. My deepest condolences to Paige and Trish, and to Doug’s extended family, his friends, and his colleagues,” Kerri Faull posted.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
