Shock footage as teen drives through fatal crash scene

An 18-year-old man has been charged after he drove through the scene of a crash where another teenager died, narrowly missing police officers.

An 18-year-old man has driven through the scene of a fatal car crash, narrowly missing police officers and other staff.

Police allege a black Holden Commodore utility travelled through a police roadblock about 1.40am on Saturday after the Forensic Crash unit and other officers were in attendance at the scene of the fatal crash at Fernvale Road, Brassall.

Footage shared by Queensland Police shows the commodore driving straight through the scene at a high speed.

The car continued to drive through the scene and left the area.

Officers found the Commodore and arrested an 18-year-old Coalfall man at a Rowland Terrace address on Monday.

He has been charged with driving of a motor vehicle without a driver's licence, driving without a license plate attached, endangering police officer when driving a motor vehicle.

He was remanded in custody today and is due to face Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 18.

The initial incident occurred about 8.40am on Friday night, when a Mazda 3 collided head-on with a white Kia Seltos on Fernvale Rd.

One neighbour, Leanne, was inside her nearby home when the crash occurred.

“It sounded like a bang. I mean, my daughter was in her room and she heard it,” she said.

“We went out the front, and that’s when we saw the white car up upside down, and what looked to be a body on the road.

“All the cars were all stopped backing up. So then by the time ambulances arrived and whatnot, all these cars had to turn around.

“But the ambulance was very quick to arrive.”

Leanne said she was confused about how the crash happened.

“It didn’t make sense as to how they’ve had a head-on collision,” he said.

“That doesn’t make sense in any way to me.”

Leanne said she was very concerned about the road.

“It is terrible,” she said. “When I have visitors, I try to tell them not to park here out the front unless they come up on the council strip, but then they’ve received fines for doing that

“We get trucks and everything that comes through this side street all the time, and there’s not enough room. It’s really dangerous on this side bit.”

Other residents near the accident scene said they were shocked by both the crash and the teen driver’s alleged actions.

One resident said there were weekly incidents at the corner of Fernvale Road and Highmead Drive, and pleaded with council to fix the road.

Tributes could be seen on the road on Tuesday morning with empty bottles of Jack Daniels and casks of wine next to flowers.

One letter read, “RIP to my brother.”
