A home has been destroyed after a fire tore through the property in Brisbane’s south on Wednesday night.

Emergency services were called to Golda Ave, Salisbury at 8.30pm after reports of a house fire.

Seven fire crews arrived to find the single-storey, timber house fully engulfed in flames.

Crews worked for more than an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was extinguished at 10pm.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The home remained standing despite the interior being charred black.

Fire investigators returned to the scene on Thursday morning to determine the cause.

Neighbour Graeme O’Connor said the street was blocked off as the home next to him was being extinguished.

“The house was ablaze. Some of the flames were nearly as high as the trees next door,” Mr O’Connor said.

“It was well alight by the time I got out (of my home).

“I didn’t actually see it start.”

Mr O’Connor said he sat on the other side of the street watching firefighters battle the raging blaze.
